Otoño (versión posterior) Autumn (later version)

by Octavio Paz

El viento despierta,
barre los pensamientos de mi frente
y me suspende
en la luz que sonríe para nadie:
¡cuánta belleza suelta!
Otoño: entre tus manos frías
el mundo llamea.The wind awakes,
sweeps the thoughts from my forehead
and suspends me
in the light that smiles for no one:
so much beauty free!
Autumn: between your cold hands
the world blazes.

And the world really does blaze on a bright, crisp autumn day doesn’t it?

In celebration of the season I am linking up with the #oneweek meme hosted by Older Mum in a Muddle. Click on the badge below to find out more. Also thanks to Notes in Spanish, a brilliant Spanish language resource, for the timely prompt to read this wonderful poem.

Such lovely words! And those photos – W.O.W. – really fab – the colours are so rich and vivid. I’ll bet Autumn is lovely over your way! Thank you for linking up again!

I have to admit that the photos were taken last month in the UK. I haven’t really been able to take many photos since I got back to Spain because of my arm. But yes, it is beautiful here at the moment. Driving through the Alpujarras on a sunny autumn day is spectacular.

Thanks. Isn’t it a lovely poem. I imagine him sitting on a bench with his eyes closed, face to the autumn sun, letting the cobwebs clear from his mind.

Wow, that first one took my breath away!
